I am really excited for football to return. Every team has been waiting and preparing all year and now finally get the chance to play each other. Also, because almost every other league has been shut down, so I think most of Europe will be watching, just to get their football fix. It’s going be weird starting out this late though, because we only have 4 games before the playoffs, so it’s kind of like that we are already in the playoffs somehow. Despite not having a lot of games before the summer, I still expect the level of play to be high or higher than usual. Every team in the Danish national football league have signed multiple imports for the first time in forever, which really says something about the competitiveness of the clubs despite the shorter season.
When the COVID-19 first happened, I was sure that the season was gone, which really [...] sucked, since we (at the Tigers) had a brand-new coaching staff and a lot of younger/newer players who were trying the sport out for the 1st time. If you want something bad enough, you will make it happen - And DAFF (the Danish American Football Federation) really wanted football to happen, so they made it happen. You gotta hand that to them. I don’t think us Danes really know how lucky we really are.
We have a lot of young talent wanting to showcase themselves this year. Last year ended on a bad note and I have this feeling that our team is anxious to prove that we are better than that. Everybody’s excited - The players, the coaches, the club, the league, everybody!
To our fans, look out for the youngest and most talented Tiger team in years. Mark yourself of the playmakers, they will dominate this league moving forward.
To my teammates, focus on doing your job, one play at the time. We have been preparing for this for 8 months. Go out and have fun playing the sport we all love. Pretty much every football player in the world would wish they were in your shoes right now.
